Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi will embark on a nationwide tour to strengthen the party from grassroots level beginning February 18 in Odisha.
Over days he is slowly but steadily stepping into the shoes of his illustrious father and former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi who believed in direct interaction with local and state leadership rather than the reports of advisers. On Friday Rahul Gandhi held his second consultation with party top leadership from states as part of Gandhi’s strategy to receive inputs from all levels in the party. Beginning Monday Gandhi will hold interaction programmes in Odisha on February 18 and 19, with District Presidents, Block Presidents and Panchayat Members of the State at Sambalpur on February 18 and in Cuttack on February 19.
Congress party is out of power for almost two decades in major states like Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, West Bengal , Karnataka and Tamil Nadu.Chief ministers of Delhi, Haryana, Rajasthan, Maharashtra, Kerala and Himachal Pradesh attended today’s meeting.
