National free roaming for customers is likely to be launched before October this year.
Disclosing this Telecom Minister Kapil Sibal said on the sidelines of the launch of National Internet Registry (NIR) that TRAI has floated a consultation paper on national free roaming.
NIR is entrusted with the task of coordinating IP address allocation with other Internet resource management function at national level in the country. NIR has been named as Indian Registry for Internet Names and Numbers (IRINN).
